SouthShore Regional Library Renovation Project

The SouthShore Regional Library will begin renovations on June 1, 2026, with an anticipated completion date of Summer 2027.

The renovations include:

  • A separate and enclosed children's library featuring an Early Learning Hive for tactile play.
  • Additional study rooms and meeting spaces of varying sizes.
  • Updated individual restrooms.
  • All new furniture.
  • New shelving with a reduced height to increase natural light and sightlines.
  • New flooring throughout.

While we undergo these exciting renovations to enhance your library experience, some services and amenities will be temporarily impacted. In the second phase, these include:

  • The Children's Room has reopened in a newly enclosed and renovated space.
  • Curbside pick-up of holds will be available beginning September 22.
  • A selection of the Adult Collection has been moved to the Community Room with limited seating.
  • Internet access and all tech services (printing, copying, faxing, scanning) are available in the Computer Lab with limited seating.
  • The Friends of the Library bookstore will reopen and resume accepting donations soon; please stay tuned for a specific date.

The following will be unavailable during this phase:

  • Genealogy Research Materials and Computers
  • Meeting spaces
  • Recording Studio
  • Vending Machines
  • Programs (Events & Classes), including Early Literacy
    • We encourage you to visit the Ruskin Branch Library and the Riverview Public Library for programs during this period. Our staff at these locations will be delighted to assist you.
